State Bank of Indian Has started Recruitment Exercise for the Most awaited Exam of Banking Sector i.e. SBI PO. Notification for 2000 Posts of Probationary Officer.
SBI PO Selection Process 2018 :-
The selection for Probationary Officers will be done through a three tiered process:
- Phase-I : Preliminary Examination
- Phase–II : Main Examination
- Phase–III:Group Exercises & Interview

Phase-I : Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Test for 100 marks will be conducted online. The test will have of 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:
PHASE I – PRELIMINARY EXAM
SBI PO Pre Exam Pattern :- This will be of Qualifying Nature & consists of Total 100 Marks & Consists of 100 Questions.

PHASE II – MAIN EXAM
Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after completion ofthe Objective Test.

► Online written exam for Probationary Officer will be consisted of 200 marks.
► Total Time Duration of exam is 03:00 hours (180 minutes).
Descriptive Test :- The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay)
NOTE :- Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.If a question is left blank, i.e.if no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
Phase–III: Group Exercises (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
Candidates qualifying for GE & Interview under ‘OBC’ category would be required to submit OBC certificate containing the ‘Non Creamy layer’ clause. Candidates not submitting the OBC certificate containing the ‘Non Creamy layer’ clause and requesting to be interviewed under General category will not be entertained.
FINAL SELECTION:-
Final Selection The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.Only the marks obtained in Main Examination(Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE& Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Main Examination and Group Exercises & Interview out of 100. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who qualify for Main Examination and Group Exercise & Interview was well as the final select list will be made available on the Bank’s website.
State Bank of India will conduct an ONLINE Written exam for recruitment of Probationary Officer. As the year passes level of competition for banking exam gets tougher. PRELIMINARY EXAM :- Level of Questions to be asked from English, Reasoning & Quantitative Aptitude will be Easy as compared to the Main Exam. Exam Syllabus is same as like Bank Exam or IBPS Exam. As SBI has already announce that 10 Times Candidates will be called for Main Exam. So Questions may be ask of SBI Clerk Level in the Pre Exam or much high level but not like PO Exam.
MAIN EXAM :- SBI PO Main Exam will be usual like Last Years PO Exam. Level of Difficulty will be high. There will be more Time Taking Questions. Reasoning will be be of High Level as it come in SBI PO Exam. So only Full Preparation & Practice will be needed as there Will Be Various Posts & lacs of Applicants will apply.
SBI PO SYLLABUS 2018
Reasoning:- Focus on Comprehension Reasoning, Venn Diagrams, Number Series, Coding and de-coding, Problem Solving Techniques, Statement & Conclusion type questions, arithmetic reasoning, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, syllogistic reasoning, Seating Arrangements, Decision Making, Input & Output, Logical Reasoning. Questions form Non Verbal Reasoning may ask in the Exam.
English Language:- Mainly Focus on the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Error, Sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Sentence Arrangements/ Word Arrangement, Comprehension & Cloze Test nothing can be out of these mentioned Topics etc. Comprehension will be lengthy.
DI & Quantitative Aptitude:- Questions will be asked from Simplification, Number Series, Quadratic Equations Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Area, profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Speed, Investment, HCF LCM, Problem On Ages, Bar Graph, Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart. Data Interpretation is the section which have to be focused.
General Awareness:- Questions will be asked from Indian Current Events, Banking, General Science, General Knowledge. Focus will be mainly on Current affairs of National & International news, Important dates, Current Science, Technology, Sports & Culture & Banking Sector. Questions from Marketing will also be in ample amounts to Test Your Knowledge. Important Topics of SBI PO General Awareness are :

Remember short cut Tricks of MS Word, MS Excel & Computer Abbreviations.
Descriptive Test:- This Test will be of Qualifying Type & will be Test of English Language. Questions will be ask from Essay writing, précis writing and Letter writing. For Descriptive Test Focus on the Current News of Finance Sector, National Issues, Recent Government Scheme & Editorials from the leading English Newspaper like The Hindu.
