Indian Navy MTS Syllabus 2018
Indian Navy has recently invited the Candidates for the Recruitment of 168 Posts for Multi Tasking Staff (Non Industrial Posts ) & Chargeman Posts. Many Interested & Eligible Candidates Filled there Application form. The Process of Submitting the Application form is Conducted Online. The Application Submission Process is started from 06.12.2017 and will be Scheduled till 26.12.2017. Here we are Providing the Link to Check the Detailed Recruitment Information.
About Exam :
All the Eligible Candidates Who filled the Online Application form will face the Exam Soon. The Date of Examination Will be Announce Later of the Official Website of Indian Navy. More Details about the Indian Navy MTS Syllabus and Selection Process is Provided Below.
As we all know that this is not a easy task now to clear a Competitive exam. Selection Process :
(A) Indian Navy at their discretion may restrict the number of eligible candidates, whose applications are registered online, by shortlisting as per merit in the ratio 1:25 to the number of vacancies based on the marks obtained in the minimum requisite educational qualification for this recruitment/ post i.e Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board. Merely fulfilling the basic selection criteria does not automatically entitle a person/applicant to be called for the written test. (Except Chargeman Posts)
Note :- No shortlisting will be carried for the post of Library & Information Assistant and Radiographer (Hospital).
(B) Written Exam (For All Posts)
Exam Pattern : The Exam Pattern will be as Follows:
- The Exam Will be Written Objective Type.
- The Exam Will be Bilingual in both English & Hindi (except for General English).
- The Exam Will be of 100 Marks.
- There Will be No Negative Marking. (If there Any Change in Negative Marking, We Will Update Here).
For MTS & Other Non- Industrial Posts

Exam Syllabus : The Syllabus will be as Follows:
For MTS & Other Non- Industrial Posts
(i) General Intelligence/Awareness & Reasoning : It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problems solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relation concepts, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include question design to test the candidate abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, and other analytical functions. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economics scene, general policy including Indian Constitution and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require special study of any discipline.
(ii) English Language : In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of English language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonymous, antonyms and its correct usage etc. His/her writing ability would also be tested.
(iii) Numerical Aptitude : This paper will include question on problems relating to number systems, computations of whole number, decimal and fractions and relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages interests, profit an d loss, discount, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work etc.
(iv) Information on relevant Trade/Post : The test will include questions relating to Trade/Post, as per the essential/desirable qualification
For Chargeman Posts
(i) General English : (a) Questions based on passage, (b) Change to passive/ active voice, (c) Punctuation (d) Use of adjectives, use of verbs, use of pronouns, prepositions (e) Tenses, (f) Substituting phrasal verbs for expression, (g) One word substitution, (h) Correction of sentences.
(ii) Numerical Ability/ Logical Reasoning : (a) Basic Maths, quadratic equations, use of logarithm & Mathematical tables, average, percentage, ratio and proportion (b) Determination of area of ellipse, parabola, hyperbola and other irregular, surfaces (c) Surface area and volume of pyramid, cone, sphere, cylinder etc. with problems (d) Basic idea of function, limits, continuity, differential and integral calculus (e) Scalars and vectors, vector algebra, dot, cross and triple product (f) Matrix algebra, calculation of inverse, Eigen values and Eigen vectors (g) Elementary logical problems (h) Elementary statistics-calculation of mean, median, mode, data analysis.
(iii) Science & Technology (Mechanic Posts) : (a) Newton’s laws of motion, Archimedes principle, mass, weight, density, gravity (b) Numerical on work, force, power, friction, inclined plane, lever (c) Basics of optics and laws of reflection/refraction, wave propagation (d) Propagation of sound waves, Doppler effect, ultrasonic, waves (e) Laws of electricity & magnetism with numerical on current, voltage resistors etc, Gauss’s law, AC circuits, oscillators (f) Elasticity, surface tension, viscosity and escape velocity problems (g) Safety precaution & fire prevention, use of various fire extinguishers (h) Knowledge of various precision measuring instruments and their counts (i) Knowledge of mechanical engineering drawing (first and third angle projection, isometric view) (j) Knowledge of limit, tolerance, Geometric tolerance clearance, fits, jigs & fixtures, dies, punches, taps, drills, template, reamers, bearings screw threads pulleys, V- belts, nuts, bolt, stud, keys, cotters, pins, crash shafts, cam shafts, fasteners, rivets, press tools, journals, pipe, tub es, various power transmission, machine foundation, pattern making, coupling, bearing, moulding, forging, arc/ gas/ Tig/ Mig/ Friction/Spot/St itch Welding, soldering, brazing, silvering, gas cutting etc (k) Properties of ferrous & non-ferrous material, various heat treatment, corrosion treatments & case hardening (I)Working Principles of various typ es of engines (I.C.E & E.C.E) (m) Knowledge of various machinery (Lathe/ Shaper/Jig boring/ Grinding, Drilling, Planer etc) Usage of various hand tools and its maintenance (n) Working knowledge on computer & internet.
(iii) Science & Technology (Ammunition & Explosive Posts) : (a) Newton’s laws of motion, Archimedes principle, mass, weight, density, gravity (b) Numerical on work, force, power, friction, inclined plane, levers (c) Basics of optics and laws of reflection/refraction, wave propagation (d) Propagation of sound waves, Doppler effect, ultrasonic, waves (e) Laws of electricity & magnetism with numerical on current, voltage resistors etc, Gauss’s law, AC circuits, oscillators (f) Elasticity, surface tension, viscosity and escape velocity problems (g) Kinetic theory of gases – Boyle’s law, Charles’ law (h) Basics of inorganic chemistry (i) Chemical Equation Balancing (j) Safety precaution & fire prevention, use of fire extinguishers (k) Elementary knowledge on properties of aluminium, copper, iron, steel alloys (I) Knowledge of various precision measuring instrument s and their least count, (m) Working Knowledge on computer & internet .
(iv) General Knowledge : (a) Current affairs (b) Defence (Army/Navy/Air Force) related Acronyms (c) Eminent personalities (Indians/foreigners) (d) Navy related (Ship, Ports) (e) Important national facts (f) Capitals & currencies (g) Sports & Entertainment (h) Regional geography.
